Princeville Hotel — no sunsets on the terrace for 2 more years
The Princeville Hotel, scene of so many spectacular sunsets, is closed. It will reopen as a more upscale hotel, a St Regis, they say after two years, but island time is, well, island time….
Meantime, watch summer sunsets (in winter the sun sets over the mountains) from Pali Ke Kua condos right next door. Park in the lot, stroll out to the grassy point with your portable mai tai, and watch the sun set into the sea.
Afterwards, try Postcards Cafe for dinner, or if you want to cook in the condo, great fresh fish filets can be found at the fish market behind Dolphin Restaurant in Hanalei, or Kilauea Fish Market in Kilauea (best fresh fish wrap on Kauai for lunch!)
